RESTART Reform in Moldova: mobile teams of Centre-East, North Territorial Agencies of Social Assistance receive new vehicles

Chisinau, 28 May /MOLDPRES/ - The mobile teams from the Centre-East and North Territorial Agencies of Social Assistance today received four vehicles, in order to facilitate the employees’ access to Moldova’s regions. The donation was provided by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and has a value of 1.4 million lei.  

The cars will be used for the movement of the mobile teams and will facilitate their access to diverse regions of the country, in order to provide direct assistance and support to beneficiaries. Thus, two vehicles were delivered to the Territorial Agencies of Social Assistance (ATAS) Centre-East and two – to ATAS North, which, for their part, will deliver them to the Territorial Structures of Social Assistance (STAS) Orhei and Rezina (Centre-East) and Edinet and Rascani (North).    

Labour and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu thanked the UNHCR partners for the donation. ‘’Our efforts do not stop here; we will continue investing in equipment, in trainings, in the quality of services, in measures and policies of social protection of citizens. These vehicles will allows us significantly improving our capacity of providing quality social services in the territory, thus contributing to the welfare and protection of the most vulnerable members of the society,’’ Alexei Buzu said.   

„This partnership which we have had with the Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MMPS) for two years already proves once again our firm support for the refugees. The effort proved and the actions undertaken by the government during this time to back the refugees are outstanding. I want to emphasize, in particular,  the devotion of MMPS’ entire team and to personally thank the minister for his  commitment and involvement for the refugees,’’ the UNCHR country representative in Moldova, Blanc Bertrand, said.     

The action is part of the MMPS’ efforts to invest in the resources and infrastructure needed, in order to support the first-line employees from the social assistance system. At the same time, the actions aim at enhancing the efficiency and capacity of response on the ground, in order to ensure a prompt support for all citizens.
