Residents of two Moldovan settlements elect mayors

Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has unveiled the preliminary results of the new local elections held in two settlements of Moldova, where the runoff of the ballot took place on 2 June.
Thus, Vladimir Gisca from the Tarnova commune, northern Donduseni district, on behalf of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), picked up 741 votes, which accounts for 100 per cent of the ballots cast.
At the same time, in the Bucovat town, central Straseni district, a representative of the European Social Democratic Party (PSDE), Irina Maximova, got 282 votes, which represents 56.51 per cent of the ballots. Nicolae Lozovan on behalf of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) grabbed 217 votes, which accounts for 43.49 per cent.
According to the provisions of the Electoral Code, at the runoff election, the candidate who picked up the largest number of votes is regarded as winner. In case of parity of votes, the candidate who got the largest number of ballots in the first round of the polls is regarded as elected.
