Chisinau, 10 June /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova enters the electoral map of Europe and Romania through the vote given at the European parliamentary elections. The president of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today conveyed a message to this effect at a news conference.
The official thanked all citizens who had participated in the ballot. He stressed that the Moldovans had proved that they were Europeans and cared about the great European family this time as well.
„You expressed your choice for those who will make Moldova’s voice heard in the European Parliament. There were many of us and exemplary; we were 56,714 citizens, the most active voters outside Romania, which represents an increase by 50 per cent against the previous European parliamentary elections. We were active all over the country. Through the vote given we showed maturity, saying no to the political extremism and populism. Moldova believes in democracy! I congratulate the National Liberal Party (PNL) on the results achieved in Moldova and Romania. In our country, over 55 electors voted for the common list the members of which were the PNL candidates too,’’ Igor Grosu said.
The parliament speaker noted that, due to the vote expressed, Moldova would have in the European Parliament lawmakers who will negotiate, in order to achieve more good things for Moldova, Romania and the entire Europe.
„This presence is a strong argument for the entire Europe that the people of Moldova have a word to say as to the direction in which EU moves. Congratulations on the results achieved by the biggest political group from the European Parliament – European People’s Party, which includes both PAS and PNL. Along with such strong allies, we will work for the democracy to win in 2024 and the democracy is defended through vote, which we actually did at the local elections, and the European parliamentary elections and what we will do on 20 October – we will prove that our voice is strong, that we are Europeans and we care about the future. Therefore, PAS will continue moving from home to home, in order to present the benefits of the European family, which will provide us peace and welfare. We will continue working along with PNL and the European People’s Party, in order to edify a strong Moldova, a strong neighbour country, a strong European Union,’’ Igor Grosu noted.
