Farmlands, orchards from five districts of Moldova hit by rains, strong wind

Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - More hectares of farmlands and orchards were hit by the rains and strong wind from 8 June, this year. The damages were recorded in settlements from the Soroca, Edinet, Ungheni, Nisporeni and Straseni districts.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), in the Macaresti village, western Ungheni district, about 11 hectares of vineyard, 12 hectares of sunflower, 10 hectares of maize and 20 hectares of wheat were affected in the wake of the torrential rains with hail.
The precipitation with hail and strong wind destroyed about 280 hectares of maize in the northern Soroca district. Also here, the precipitation hit 43 hectares of orchards, about 130 hectares of sunflower, as well as 80 hectares of farmlands with crops.
Also, the strong wind deteriorated the roof of the temporary placement centre for disabled people from the Badiceni village, Soroca district. The wind pulled out and spoiled about 204 slate sheets, 160 square metres of wood panel and 2 square metres of timber.
Also, the torrential rains with hail affected 24 hectares of orchards and 26 hectares of vineyard in the Barboieni and Soltanesti settlements of the central Nisporeni district.
The commissions for emergency situations are to establish the material damages.
