Moldovan PM meets German Foreign Affairs Minister

Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean today had a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister of Germany Annalena Baerbock. The officials discussed Moldova’s European integration path, as well as ways in which the cooperation in the security and economy fields can be deepened, the government’s communication department reported.  

PM Dorin Recean reiterated that Moldova was determined to become EU member as soon as possible, as this will guarantee the peace, calm and prosperity of the country. In this respect, the present agenda of the authorities’ priorities is focused on the justice reform, de-oligarchization, combating the misinformation and ensuring the correctness of the carrying out of the presidential elections and the referendum on the European integration.    

„Germany is one of the most important partners of Moldova in the European Union and our dialogue is more important than ever, as we are united in our strong support for Ukraine and jointly approach the current threats to the regional peace and stability,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.    

The PM stressed that Moldova wanted to actively take part in the process of Ukraine’s recovery. Presently, the country continues to host over 130,000 Ukrainian refugees and there is an active cooperation with Ukraine, Romania and EU, in order to facilitate the transit of goods to and from Ukraine.    

In the context, the prime minister noted that the German constant support and investments in Moldova meant, indirectly, also support provided to the Ukrainian citizens who had transited or who presently live in Moldova.   

The German diplomacy head, Annalena Baerbock, assured of the unconditional support for the reforms’ process and the country’s European integration way. ‘’Despite the difficult conditions, against the background of the Russian aggression in Ukraine, Moldova manages to make firm steps towards the great European family and we will provide you with unconditional support in this desideratum,’’ the German official emphasized

The Moldovan-German cooperation comprises a wide range of projects implemented in such sectors as energy efficiency, domestic affairs, rule of law state, professional training, urban and rural development, water supply infrastructure, development of entrepreneurship, health, education, public administration.    In the context, the PM appreciated Germany’s continuous support for the Moldova Support Platform and the fruitful results of this cooperation. The next conference is planned to be held in Chisinau in next September.
