Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/ - The torrential rains and the strong wind will continue on the next days too, specialists of the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) have warned. The phenomenon is specific for Moldova’s zone for June, meteorologists told MOLDPRES. To avoid the risky situations, rescuers recommend that the people are prudent and shelter themselves in safe places in case of storm.
The last night storm made havoc in settlements from central Moldova. Thrown down trees and blocked roads – this was the sad picture found in the Moldovan capital today early in the morning.
The phenomenon is specific for the European continent, which is under the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, weather forecasters noted.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the weather forecasts department at SHS, Ghenadie Rosca, said that the likelihood of a storm was low for 12 June.
„The June months is regarded as the rainiest one of all the year. Today, the likelihood of atmospheric instability is lower; we monitor; if necessary, we will issue a warning. Such phenomena are characteristic for the June month. On average, there should be 10-12 days with such phenomena,’’ Ghenadie Rosca noted.
In case of weather warnings, citizens are to be prudent, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) said. Rescuers remind parents not to leave their children without supervisions and to call the 112 emergency number in case of risky situations.
„It would be good for the people to prove responsibility, to take into account the authorities’ messages, especially if we talk about the likelihood of the falling down of trees or old trees, electricity wires, in order to make sure not to move under them. And in case of storms and heavy precipitation, it is good for people to find a shelter, in order not to endanger their lives,’’ the IGSU press officer, Liliana Puscasu, said.
The storms will be weaker and more seldom after 14 June, meteorologists said. Instead, there will be heat, with air temperatures higher than +30 Celsius degrees.
Today, the weather maintains warm, without precipitation. The maximal air temperatures will not exceed +29 degrees.
At the same time, Romania is under a Yellow Code of floods, valid in 29 counties till 13 June.
