Senate President: Romania continues enhanced dialogue with Moldova to provide all necessary support in EU accession process

Chisinau, 19 June /MOLDPRES/- Romanian Senate President Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă has expressed his intention to continue in-depth and consistent dialogue with the Republic of Moldova in order to support our country in the European integration process. The Romanian official had a meeting in Bucharest with a delegation of the Moldovan Parliament, which attended the session dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the establishment of the Romanian Senate.
The delegation included MPs Ina Coșeru, head of the Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration, Alina Dandara, Mihail Druță, Vitalie Jacot and Mariana Lucrețeanu.
According to a press release issued by the Romanian Senate, Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă expressed appreciation for the excellent level of cooperation relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, including at parliamentary level.
"Romania continues the in-depth dialogue with the Republic of Moldova in order to give Chisinau all the necessary support in the accession to the European Union", he said.
The Romanian official expressed full confidence in the efforts of President Maia Sandu, the Government and the Parliament to achieve the objectives of reform, development and confirmation of the Republic of Moldova as a reliable partner at European and international level.
Ciucă highlighted the professional way the Chisinau authorities have managed the recent destabilization challenges, Moldova's security being a major priority for Romania and essential in the regional context, closely linked to Ukraine's security.
"It is imperative to combat misinformation and manipulation that will be placed in the public space until 20 October, when presidential elections will take place across the Prut, simultaneously with the referendum for European integration," the Romanian official added.
Romania will continue to support the strengthening of Moldova's resilience by providing comprehensive assistance, transfer of expertise and training in various areas such as cyber security, emergency management, prevention and fight against arms trafficking and corruption.
On 17 June, Romania's Senate marked 160th anniversary with a solemn sitting. Current and former presidents of the institution evoked the importance and role of the Senate in the development of the Romanian state and democracy.
