Chisinau hosts international conference on Ukraine's recovery

Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - Ukraine will have to be backed, in order to be able to be reestablished after the war ends and Moldova will have a crucial role in the recovery process. The participants in the first conference titled, Recovery of Ukraine. Role of Moldova, held in Chisinau today, made statements to this effect.   

In a speech given at the opening of the conference, President of the Moldova-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry Boris Foca said that Ukraine, which is in war now, needed help; the value of damages borne by Ukraine so far amounts to hundreds of billions of dollars. Foca noted that Moldova would have a crucial role in the process of Ukraine’s recovery on the post-war period. ‘’Moldova has 17 terrestrial border checkpoints with Ukraine and provides the best conditions for the placement of rooms for production and depositing of products of strategic importance for Ukraine – tubes, generators, transformers. Thus, along with the business environment, with our partners, we ruled that we must organize a conference during which we should see the role of our country in the process of Ukraine’s rehabilitation,’’ Foca said.    

President of the Association of Investors from Moldova in Moldova Dan Nutiu said that Ukraine would have to be supported intensely after the war ends and the companies from the neighbour countries should be prepared to get involved in this process. ‘’We are set to create opportunities both for the companies willing to invest in Ukraine and for the Ukrainian companies who want to turn to good account the opportunities provided by the European way,’’ Nutiu also said.    

The participants in the conference brought for discussion opportunities of investments in Moldova and the process of Ukraine’s recovery; the role of the bilateral relations between Moldova and Ukraine; the basic niches for investments in Ukraine and the economic situation in the neighbour country.

Attending the event were representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in Chisinau, Ukrainian Association of Renewable Energy, Confederation of Constructors from Ukraine, UkraineInvest, Ukrainian-Chinese Business Council, Association for Development and Reconstruction of Regions from Ukraine and the Three Seas Initiative (union of 13 European Union member states situated in the Central and Eastern Europe and of two partner countries: Ukraine (2022) and Moldova (as of 2023).    

The conference was organized by the Moldova-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the France-Moldova Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Association of Investors from Romania.  

The event shows the common commitment for the corporate social responsibility and promotion of the sustainable social and economic development in the region. The conference will be subsequently held in Romania, Italy and France.
