Deputy Prime Minister: June 23 - Sovereignty Day of Moldova

Chisinau, 23 June /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi sent a message on Moldova's Sovereignty Day.

"Thirty-four years ago, on June 23, 1990, the Declaration of Sovereignty was adopted, which laid the foundations of our state. This historic document solemnly declared before the whole world that the sole bearer of sovereignty and the only source of power in the state is the people, and the Republic of Moldova is a unitary and indivisible state! Today, more than ever, we understand how important is our right, the right of our citizens to decide our own future and how shaky democracy can be if it is not defended by all of us", said Popșoi.

In his message, the official said that the authorities have an obligation to strengthen state institutions - which must be resilient institutions that will protect the interests of citizens.
