DOC Decree on opening negotiations on Moldova's accession to EU published in Official Journal

Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/- The decree, signed on June 21 by Moldovan President Maia Sandu to start negotiations on Moldova's accession to the European Union and negotiations on the draft treaty on Moldova's accession to the European Union was published in the Official Journal today.
Under the document, Cristina Gherasimov, deputy prime minister for European integration is appointed and empowered as head of the delegation and chief negotiator of the process of negotiations on Moldova's accession to the European Union and negotiations on the draft treaty on Moldova's accession to the European Union.
"The coordination of negotiating the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union, as well as the organization and functioning of the negotiating team will be carried out according to the national mechanism established by the Government," the document reads.
The decree enters into force upon the publication in the Official Journal.
The Republic of Moldova and Ukraine start accession negotiations with the European Union on June 25. They will be formally launched at an intergovernmental conference in Luxembourg today. The Moldovan delegation to the meeting is led by Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
