Moldovan president sends congratulatory message to Mark Rutte, appointed as NATO Secretary General

Chisinau, 26 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today conveyed a congratulatory message to the acting Dutch prime minister, Mark Rutte, who had been appointed NATO’s Secretary General. In the context, the head of state reiterated the importance of the partnership between Moldova and the Alliance.
„We appreciate our long-lasting partnership with the NATO, which helps us edify the resilience, as we work for a stable, safe and more prosperous Moldova. I express the best wishes in this new role,’’ Maia Sandu noted.
Those 32 NATO member states today appointed the acting Dutch prime minister, Mark Rutte, as secretary general of the Alliance.
Mark Rutte, aged 57 years, will take over the new office on 1 October 2024, replacing Norwegian Jens Stoltenberg, who has been in this position for ten years.
