Moldovan environment ministry says quality of Dniester river's water within limits of pollution degrees

Chisinau, 28 June /MOLDPRES/ - The quality of the Dniester river’s water ‘’is within the limits of the pollution degrees’’ and ‘’the concentration for some indicators comes from the flowing of residual waters.’’ The Environment Ministry today made statements to this effect, after the Environment Agency had collected and examined samples from more locations of the river. Decision-makers gave assurances that, at present,’’ the situation does not pose danger for the population and the biodiversity and the water’s quality is to improve.’’    

The Environment Ministry informed that, as a result of the analysis collected, ‘’the quality of the Dniester river’s water is within the limits of the pollution degrees.’’ At the same time, according to the quoted source, ‘’the concentration for some indicators comes from the flowing of the residual waters.’’ ‘’Taking into account that the Dniester river has a large flow of water, the concentrations are dispersed and the indicators come to normal,’’ the ministry noted.  

The locations from which samples were collected are the Telita Noua village and the Gura Bacului village, upstream the mouth of the Bic river in the Dniester river and downstream the mouth of the Bic river in the Dniester river, downstream the Tighina (Bender) city, Hagimus village, Causeni district and from the Dniester, Olanesti village, Stefan Voda district.      

At an instruction by the Environment Ministry, the Environment Agency will continuously monitor the water quality indicators.  

One week ago, information appeared in the public space on presumed flowing from the sewerage system of the Bender city into the Dniester river. In these conditions, the Environment Ministry urgently asked the Environment Agency to collect and examine samples from more regions of the Dniester river, including in the area of the Tighina (Bender) municipality.
