New contest to create and expand public nurseries

Chisinau, July 1 /MOLDPRES/- Government will invest 20 million lei for the creation and expansion of public nurseries for children, families and communities in the country. A new contest was launched today in Chisinau. It will be open to local public authorities of level I in localities with a population of over 5,000 inhabitants. The selected projects are to be implemented by the end of this year.
Thus, as of today, local public authorities will have 30 calendar days - until July 30, 2024, to prepare the technical documentation and fill in the participation forms.
The maximum amount invested in a project is 1.5 million lei, with the possibility to exceed this volume by 15%. The additional sources will be covered by the LPAs.
"We encourage all local public authorities of level I to actively participate in this important competition for local communities, thus contributing to improving access to early childhood education for children and to the sustainable development of each locality!", Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spînu said.
The official said that in 2023, thanks to the efforts of the Government, but also with the support of development partners, 20 localities benefited from the program of expansion of day-care centers, which means 15 new groups created and 20 groups of day-care centers renovated and prepared for the cold season.
Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu noted that the expansion of public nursery groups is essential to support young families, young mothers, who wish to harmoniously combine work and family life and want to return to work as soon as possible.
