Agricultural land to be included in digital National Farmers Registry

Chisinau, July 4 /MOLDPRES/- Digital National Farmers Registry (DNFR), developed with the support of UNDP Moldova was presented yesterday to the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA). The functionalities of the modules of the Integrated Administration and Control System (IACS) were highlighted.

The register is an essential component of IACS, a system implemented and requested by the European Union to manage and control payments to farmers under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

"Without this register and an accurate record of land it would not be possible to access EU funds in the future. The farmers' register is essential for the development of our agriculture and to ensure that farmers receive the necessary resources," said Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry.

Ten thousand Moldovan landholders have so far been successfully registered in the system. This summer, with the support of UNDP, another ten thousand landowners will be included in the system through a comprehensive door-to-door data collection approach.
