Moldovan lawmakers make amendments to labour legislation

Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs today ratified more additional articles of the Revised European Social Charter, in order to consolidate the human rights in the social and economic sectors.
The amendments regard the observance of employees’ rights to a higher coefficient of wage payment for additional work hours; right of children and young people to protection; right to professional training; right of disable people to autonomy, to social integration and to participation in the community’s life.
The Charter is a treaty of the Council of Europe, which guarantees the social and economic human rights and sets a mechanism of their supervision and observance. In the international treaty, special emphasis is put on the protection of vulnerable people, such as the elderly people, children, persons with disabilities and migrants and imposes the observance of the rights of these people without discrimination and namely, the rights to dwelling, health, education, movement, employment, legal and social protection, etc.
Moldova ratified the Revised European Social Charter on 8 November 2001.
