Moldovan president, heads of 28 districts discuss referendum on accession to EU

Chisinau, 24 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has had a new round of consultations on the organization of the referendum on Moldova’s accession to the European Union, the presidential press service reported.
The head of state discussed with 28 heads and deputy heads of districts. She called on them to promote the country’s EU integration way, stressing that the European integration would bring benefits to all communities, no matter the political likings.
At the meeting, the Moldovan president discussed projects on development in regions, financed by the European Union. The head of state answered all questions by local authorities on the European integration process, as well as the holding of the referendum, due on 20 October 2024.
The series of consultations with representatives of different groups, sectors and communities will continue, in order to ensure a wider informing of the society about the plebiscite due next autumn.
