Moldovan president says joins leaders from all over the world to celebrate sport, Olympic spirit, peace

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu is in the capital of France, Paris, where the Summer Olympic Games have just started. Twenty six sportspeople represent Moldova at this competition.
The head of state, along with another 100 world leaders, participate in the ceremony on the opening of the Paris Summer Olympic Games. ‘’Today, I join the leaders from all over the world, in order to celebrate the sport, the Olympic spirit and the peace. We thank President Macron and France for the hosting of the Olympic Games, in which thousands of sportspeople participate, who bring together millions of people and unite the nations around a true holiday of the sport,’’ the Moldovan president said.
Moldova is represented by 26 sportspeople, who have nine titles of world champion and 11 titles of European champion. They will take part in 10 sports events, included in the Schedule of the Olympic Games.
During the visit, the head of state will meet the Diaspora from Nice, which is the biggest community of Moldovans in France following the Paris one.
It is for the first time in the last 100 years that Paris hosts the Summer Olympic Games. About 10,500 sportspeople are expected to participate in the world competition.
Games wide open is the motto of the Paris Olympic Games.
