Chisinau, 27 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has ended her visit to France, on the occasion of the opening of the Paris Olympic Games, at an invitation by French President Emanuel Macron, the presidential press service reported.
On 26 July morning, the head of state met the Olympic team of Moldova, whom she wished success and thanked for the work carried out, due to which they got to represent Moldova at the greatest holiday of the sport.
Subsequently, President Maia Sandu went to Nice, where she met the Moldovans’ community. ‘’We finished the negotiations on an agreement with France on the conversion of drivers’ licences. In several months, the Moldovan citizens from France will be able to change the Moldovan driver’s licences issued after 2020 into French documents,’’ the head of state said. At the same time, Maia Sandu noted that the interests of the Moldovan citizens, either at home or in the Diaspora, represent a priority of the foreign policy and a principal subject in her discussions with the leaders of other countries.
„In the south of France, I found a warm and industrious community. Our citizens are known as honest people. They succeed in France, but are longing for the home: they want more direct and accessible flights, but also to return home, in order to be closer to their parents and children – to grandparents,’’ the Moldovan president also said.
President Maia Sandu referred to the achievements of the governance: investments in villages, roads, power lines, hospitals, education. ‘’Even if we still have much work to do, Moldova is changing for the better and gets ever closer to the European Union. We are resolute to continue this road and to provide a better future for all our citizens, no matter where they are,’’ the head of state added.
