Moldovan judoka to take prize worth 2,000,000 lei for bronze medal at Paris Olympic Games Judocanul

Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - A Moldovan sportsman, Denis Vieru, who has brought the first medal for Moldova at the Paris Olympic Games, will take a prize of 2,000,000 lei, under a government decision approved in last April.
Judoka Denis Vieru, aged 28 years, won the bronze medal at the Paris Olympic Games, after defeating the French sportsman, Walide Khyar.
Thus, Denis Vieru becomes the first Moldovan judoka who manages to win a medal at an edition of the Olympic Games.
According to the decision approved, three million lei will be provided to sportspeople due to get the golden medal at the Olympic and Paralympic Games of this summer. The sportspeople ranking second and third will receive 2.6 million lei and, respectively, 2 million lei, reads the government decision approved on 3 April.
At the same time, the draft approved by the cabinet stipulates that the sportspeople getting on the fourth and fifth positions will be remunerated with 600,000 lei each. For the sixth place, the prize will be of 400,000 lei and the participants getting on the seventh and eighth positions will receive 300,000 lei and, respectively, 200,000 lei each.
Prizes will be provided also to the coaches who trained the sportspeople in the last four years and the medical staff who provided medical and kinetic therapy assistance during four years, till the holding of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The 33rd edition of the Sumer Olympic Games and the 17th edition of the Paralympic Games are held in Paris, France during 26 July – 11 August 2024.
Moldova’s Olympic team is represented by 26 sportspeople who compete at ten sports events.
