Moldovan president attends inauguration of stroke center in Edinet

Chisinau, Aug 1 /MOLDPRES/- On a working visit to Edinet district, President Maia Sandu participated today in the opening of the primary stroke center in the district hospital. This is the ninth such center of its kind in the country and will provide emergency assistance to citizens of Edinet, Ocnita, Briceni and Dondușeni districts, the presidential press service has reported.
"In total, more than 250 thousand people in the north of the country will have the certainty that they, their relatives and close ones, in case of need, will be provided with fast and professional assistance. These are investments which, in the most direct way, save lives", said Maia Sandu.
The president also emphasized that in two and a half years, the government has invested 46 million lei from the public budget and development partners in the Edinet district hospital, funds that almost double the budget allocated by the district council in the period 2016-2023. The anesthesiology and intensive care ward has been renovated and equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including a modern CT scanner, and the pediatric ward is under renovation.
"The vision we implement with conviction is that of a country where every life is precious and every citizen has access to efficient medical services, and every doctor can work in modernized hospitals with access to state-of-the-art equipment," the head of state said.
