Moldovan diplomat declared persona non-grata in Russia

Chisinau, 6 aug. /MOLDPRES/- A member of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow has been declared persona non-grata on the territory of the Russian Federation and is due to return to the country. The decision comes after recently our country declared persona non-grata an employee of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the summoning of Chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow to the headquarters of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Moldovan diplomat was informed about the declaration of a member of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow as persona non-grata on the territory of the Russian Federation.
MAE said „ it expresses regret for this decision, which is unfounded in relation to the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations”.
Late last month, an employee of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau was declared as persona non-grata after recruiting a border guard and the head of the Legal Department of Parliament, Ion Creanga. The two are suspected of treason and conspiracy against the Republic of Moldova. They would have communicated to the employee of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau various information to be used to harm the interests of Moldova.
