Export of fresh grapes to EU increased by 2.5 times since beginning of year

Chisinau, Aug 9 /MOLDPRES/- Export of fresh grapes to the European Union increased by 2.5 times in seven months of 2024 compared to the same period of 2023. Thus, if 5,015 tons of Moldovan grapes reached the EU market from January to July 2023, then in the same period of this year the figure reached 12,527 tons. The main countries to which Moldovan grapes are delivered are Romania and Poland.
According to the data of the National Statistics Bureau, in January-May 2024, the Republic of Moldova recorded an increase in exports in several categories of agricultural products, compared with the same period of 2023.
Exports of oilseeds increased by 1.6 times, highlighting increased demand for these products on international markets.
During the same period, exports of vegetables and fruits grew by 24.3%.
The alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages sector also saw a 13% increase in exports.
Moldovan dried fruit exports increased by 65% in the first six months of 2024, compared to the same period last year, from 4 thousand tons to 6.6 thousand tons.
According to statistics, over 65% of Moldova's exports go to the European Union, and over 81% of foreign direct investments in the economy come from the EU. The EU is thus the main investor in Moldova and the main market for products from the Republic of Moldova.
