Moldovan-Czech bilateral relations' boosting discussed in Chisinau

Chisinau, August 14 /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan-Czech bilateral relations' boosting was discussed at a today's meeting with the participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi and Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Chisinau Stanislav Kázecký, who is ending his diplomatic mission in the country.
During the discussions, Mihai Popșoi welcomed the intensification of bilateral relations, mentioning the official visit to the Czech Republic by president of the Republic of Moldova, the exchange of visits by ministers of foreign affairs and those at the parliamentary level.
He also emphasized the growth of trade and economic exchanges and the promotion of energy cooperation between both countries.
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Czech Republic were established on June 1, 1992.
In 2023, the volume of foreign trade of the Republic of Moldova with the Czech Republic recorded 326.42 million US dollars (up by 34.68% compared to 2022), of which the export was 160.91 million dollars (+54 .56% compared to 2022), and import 165.51% (+19.71% compared to 2022).
In 2023, the Czech Republic ranked 5th among the main destination countries of merchandise exports with a 4.0% share of the total, and 11th among the top countries of origin of merchandise imports with a 1.9% share out of the total.
In the export of bottled wines from the Republic of Moldova, the Czech Republic ranks 3rd worldwide with 7.4 million US dollars (after Romania and Poland).
