Political parties can register as participants in referendum starting from 21 August

Chișinău, August 16 /MOLDPRES/- Political parties and electoral blocs can register as participants in the referendum starting from 21 August. They can apply for at  the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) no later than 30 days before the referendum day.

According to the CEC, the status of participant in the republican constitutional referendum on October 20, 2024, can be held by political parties registered by the election date and electoral blocs registered with the CEC as established by law.

They will submit the registration application to the CEC starting from August 21, 2024. 

The CEC will examine the documents and adopt a decision within 3 days.

Referendum participants can designate representatives and trusted persons for confirmation.

Subjects who do not register as participants in the referendum cannot conduct electoral campaigning to support or oppose the referendum, nor promote non-participation in the referendum (to boycott the referendum). Any such action is considered illegal.

On October 20, citizens will be called to the republican constitutional referendum, where they will be invited to answer "Yes" or "No" to the question: "Do you agree amending the Constitution to enable the Republic of Moldova's accession to the European Union?"
