Chisinau, August 19 /MOLDPRES/- Starting from 29 September, Moldovan citizens residing in Spain will be able to exchange the Moldovan driving licenses for Spanish ones without taking theoretical or practical tests. Recently, the Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of Spain completed the internal procedures necessary for the implementation of the Agreement on the mutual recognition and conversion of national driving licenses, signed in Chisinau on April 18, 2024.
Thus, people who want to obtain the Spanish equivalents in the categories C1, C1+E, C, C+E, D1, D1+E, D and D+E will have to take skills and behavior control test in a closed circuit and a driving test on public roads open to traffic. In the case of permits issued after the entry into force of the agreement, they must be obtained in the state where the applicant has legal residence.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this is the first agreement with a member state of the European Union that provides for verification of the authenticity of documents through the exchange of digital data in real mode, directly between the competent Moldovan and Spanish bodies. The authorities designated for the execution of this agreement are: in the Republic of Moldova - the Public Services Agency (www.ASP.gov.md), and in the Kingdom of Spain - the General Traffic Directorate (www.DGT.es) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
