Moldovan central electoral commission publishes list of possible locations of polling stations from abroad for next autumn ballot

Chisinau, 19 August /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC), in cooperation with the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE), has made public the list of possible locations of those 209 polling stations from abroad for the constitutional referendum and the presidential elections due on 20 October.
According to CEC, the list is not final and, in the analysis of the possible locations of the polling stations from abroad, decision-makers take into account and indicate the data held by CEC on the dynamic of the participation in the elections of citizens at all polling stations earlier set up abroad, as well as the information held by MAE or published by the competent authorities of the host countries as regards the number and place of the stay of Moldova’s citizens abroad.
CEC attracts attention that, on the day of the publication of the preliminary information, decision-makers did not take into account the final data on the fulfillment of the conditions which regard the getting of the agreement of the competent authorities of the host country and the possibility of the providing of the infrastructure of the polling stations from abroad technically and logistically. This information is in continuous process of collection by MAE and is verified by the members of the inter-institutional group created by CEC and depending on the dynamic of this data, changes can occur in the likelihood of the creation of polling stations (high, medium, low).
Voters can preliminarily register lot later than 45 days before the day of elections, with the deadline being 6 September 2024.
CEC informs that it planned financial resources for the organization of 209 polling stations abroad, by 59 polling stations more against the last parliamentary elections held in 2021.
