Moldovan president says leadership manages to make Europe treat Moldova with respect in last years

Chisinau, 21 August /MOLDPRES/ - „I promised in 2020 to get Moldova out of international isolation; after four years, we became not only state candidate for accession, but we also managed to open the negotiations.’’ President Maia Sandu has made statements to this effect in a posting on social networks.    

According to the head of state, in the last years, Moldova has managed to make itself heard and respected by the entire Europe.  

„Now, dear citizens, we have managed to make the entire Europe treat us with respect and give us a helping hand. The entire world has seen that Moldova is a country of kindness and love for freedom, of worthy people who can work honestly, in order to live well, just as they deserve,’’ Maia Sandu said.    

The president noted that, in the last four years, Moldova had benefited from an unprecedented assistance.  

„In the last years, the foreign assistance turned to account was four-fold higher than during 2016-2018. Most foreign funds, i.e. more than 35 billion lei, was used for the payment of salaries, pensions, construction of roads, schools, kindergartens, compensations for energy. Over 17 billion lei went for investment projects, for projects on supply with water, for the modernization of ten hospitals, rehabilitation of the cultural heritage and backing of economic agents,’’ the head of state also said.     

„I have always been proud of Moldova; I wanted not to hear people speaking about Moldova as about a place where money is laundered, an area of oligarchs, a country without chances. Now, dear citizens, we managed to make the entire Europe treat us with respect. The entire world has seen that Moldova is a country of kindness and love for freedom, of worthy people who can work honestly,’’ the Moldovan president added.
