Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ - „The good always wins! З Днем Незалежності, Україно!” (Congratulations on the Independence Days, Ukraine). Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today came up with a congratulatory message for the neighbour Ukrainians, who mark the Independence Day. Grosu today informed that the parliament building would be illuminated in the colours of Ukraine’s flag today starting from 21:00, as a token of solidarity with the Ukrainian nation.

In his message, the speaker said that the citizens of Moldova thanked the neighbours for the lesson of courage and love for the country they proved day after day, defending steadfastly the independence of Ukraine, as well as of the entire Europe.

„We, the citizens of Moldova, support you and back you in the fight for freedom; we are with you and strongly believe that Ukraine will win this barbarian war of Russia,’’ Grosu noted.

The parliament speaker also said that Moldova, as well as Ukraine had acquired their independence 33 years ago and the way had been not at all easy.

„Therefore, we will do our utmost to move forward and to be part of a great family, where there is democracy, peace, well-being and this family is the European Union. The good always wins! З Днем Незалежності, Україно!”, Grosu stressed.

Ukraine today marks the Independence Day, which marks the moment of adoption of the Declaration of Independence from the USSR in 1991.

Ukraine is a state in the Eastern Europe, placed between Russia, Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and Belarus. The country’s capital is the Kiev city, with a population of about 2.8 million residents. The country has direct access to the Black Sea and Azov Sea, as well as to the Danube river. Ukraine exports iron ore, oil, coal, natural gas, agricultural machines, wheat, sugar. It imports crude oil, non-ferrous metals, chemical products, industrial semi-finished goods, electronic apparatus and consumer goods.

The diplomatic relations between Moldova and Ukraine were established on 10 March 1992. The bilateral legal framework includes over 160 acts which regulate the Moldovan-Ukrainian cooperation in different sectors.

For the third year in a row, Ukraine marks its Independence Day on the background of a devastating war unleashed by Russia.
