Moldovan president congratulates sportspeople who win medals at World Championships in Uzbekistan

Chisinau, 25 August /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has come up with a message for the sportspeople who participated in the World Championships in Uzbekistan. In the message, the head of state thanked the sportspeople for having represented the country with dignity and for raising the country’s national flag on international platforms.
According to the quoted source, after winning a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Paris several weeks ago, Serghei Tarnovschi records a new victory.
„Today, our canoeist won the gold at the 500 metres event at the World Championships in Uzbekistan. Congratulations, Serghei! Also today, the tandem Maria Olarasu and Daniela Cociu became world vice-champions at the distance of 200 metres double. Thank you for having represented the country with dignity and for raising our tricolor flag on international platforms,’’ Maia Sandu said.
Also today, the duo Nichita Naumciuc - Dmitrii Zincenco won the bronze medal at the World Rowing Under 23Championships, held in Canada. They registered the result 6:44.57 on the distance of 2,000 metres, being outrun by Austrians Konrad Hultsch - Paul Ruttmann and Matias Ramirez and Alberto Portillo from Paraguay.
