Moldovan government announces official schedule of events dedicated to 33rd anniversary of Moldova's Independence Day

Chisinau, 26 August /MOLDPRES/ - The festive events dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of Moldova’s Independence Day start today at 18:00 by a concert of electronic music - the bands Golan Hybrid, Magic Flowers, Subcarpați and Andrew Rayel, the government’s communication department has reported.   

On 27 August, the official schedule begins at 08:00 with laying of flowers at the Grieving Mother monument from the Eternity memorial complex, broadcast live. At the end of the ceremony, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean will make press statements.  

At 09:00, the leaders, accompanied by the cabinet members, MPs, lawmakers of the first Moldova’s parliament, heads of central and local institutions, as well as citizens will lay flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephen the Great. Journalists will have free access to both solemn ceremonies.    

Prime Minister Dorin Recean will meet President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, President of Estonia Alar Karis and President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, at the Government Building starting from 11:00. The officials were invited by President Maia Sandu to mark together with the Independence Day of Moldova.  

At 12:10, the four officials will hold joint press statements; the three Baltic leaders will sign a joint declaration, thereby affirming, once again, the support for Moldova’s accession to the European Union.     

For the news conference, journalists are expected at the government’s headquarters as of 11:20. The access will be made based on the valid identification card.   

At 13:10, the presidents of Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia will lay flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephen the Great.

At 19:00, the leaders of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia will convey congratulatory messages to the Moldovans on the stage on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN).  

President Maia Sandu will give its congratulatory speech on the stage in PMAN in video format starting from 21:35.    

Within the artistic schedule on 27 August, as of 18:00, the National Youth Orchestra, as well as other bands and singers will perform on PMAN’s stage.    

The Independence Day will be marked nationally in all villages, towns and cities with laying of flowers, exhibitions, sports competitions, concerts and commemorative actions dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the proclamation of Moldova’s Independence.    

On 28 August, the third show will be held on the Great National Assembly Square. All concerts begin at 18:00 and are broadcast live, including on the Moldovan government’s official page.
