Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/ - Three people today morning were detained in two files on passive corruption and influence peddling. The detentions took place following searches carried out at the Territorial Military Centre (CMT) of the Autonomous Territorial Unit (UTA) of Gagauzia.
According to the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA), the criminal prosecution regarded civil servants of CMT from UTA Gagauzia and one intermediary. They are suspected of having received different sums of money from people recruited to Moldova’s armed forces, in order to release them from the compulsoriness to fulfill the military service.
According to the materials of the file, the intermediary would have acted jointly with the head of the CMT Gagauzia human resources section. The latter, for his part, said that he would have influence on the head of the conscription and mobilization section of CMT and can prompt him to undertake actions contrary to his job duties. Thus, they would have claimed and received sums worth up to 1,000 euros, in order not to start the procedure of conscription to the National Army and not to call them to account under the Contravention Code for the evading of the seasoned military service.
In the documentation process, law-enforcers fixed more episodes of release from or postponing of the fulfillment of the military service, as well as of non-calling to account under the Contravention Code for evading – actions taken for different sums of money.
Following searches made by CNA, the head of the conscription and mobilization section at CMT Gagauzia and the head of the human resources section, as well as the intermediary were detained for 72 hours.
The actions continue under the leadership of prosecutors from the Cahul municipality.
