Moldovan electoral body registers first candidate for Moldovan president office

Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved the registration of Alexandr Stoianoglo as candidate for the office of Moldova’s president. He was nominated by the Moldovan Party of Socialists (PSRM).
Also, CEC registered the electoral symbol of the candidate for its printing on the ballot paper at the presidential elections and confirmed the person in charge of the finances.
At the same time, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Political Party was registered as participant in the republican constitutional referendum due on 20 October 2024, with the option ‘’YES.’’
Also, the draft decisions on the applications on registration of initiative groups to support the candidates for the position of Moldova’s president, Avelin Tabarcea and Valentin Borodachi, nominated by groups of citizens, did not meet the needed number of votes in order to be approved.
The elections for the office of Moldova’s president will be held on 20 October 2024. The republican constitutional referendum will be organized on the same day. The citizens will have to answer the question: ‘’Do you support the amendment of the Constitution for Moldova’s accession to the European Union?’’
