Moldova's Superior Council of Prosecutors approves composition of special for pre-selection of candidates for office of head at Prosecutor's Office for special causes

Chisinau, 3 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) has approved the composition of the special Commission for the pre-selection of the candidates for the office of chief prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating the Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS). The commission will be made up of five members.     

According to CSP, three members of the commission were nominated by the Council, one member – by Moldova’s Presidency and one by the Justice Ministry.

Thus, the pre-selection commission is made up of: Laura Stefan – anticorruption expert; Gabriela Scutea – EU High-Ranking Adviser for Justice and Prosecutor’s Office; Sergiu Rusu – deputy of the Prosecutor General; Marcel Dumitras – prosecutor; Igor Dolea – university professor.   

On the days to come, the pre-selection commission will initiate the procedure of the examination of the files submitted by those four candidates for the office of PCCOCS chief prosecutor.

In late last August, CSP informed that four candidates would compete for the office of PCCOCS chief prosecutor. The contest for selection of the PCCOCS chief prosecutor was resumed following more failed attempts. The following prosecutors registered for the contest: Ion Negurita – acting chief prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Ialoveni district; Victor Furtuna – acting chief prosecutor of PCCOCS; Andrei Matco - lawyer and Alexandru Machidon – deputy of the PCCOCS chief prosecutor.
