Moldovan electoral body verifies applications on registration for vote by correspondence

Chisinau, 10 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has processed 1,320 applications out of the total number of about 2,000 ones submitted. As many as 1,102 applications out of the total number have been accepted, while the other are being verified.
According to CEC, the identification of the electors registered for the vote by correspondence is made through the verification of their identity by the use of automated verification means. In this process, the voter can be notified to partially or fully update the data, in order to make the identification possible. The data’s updating can be made 25 days before the day of the elections at the latest.
On 6 September, the preliminary registration period ended, including for the option of vote by correspondence.
The vote by correspondence for Moldova’s citizens living on the territory of the United States, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland will be implemented at the presidential elections and the republican constitutional referendum, scheduled for 20 October 2024.
