Superior Council of Magistracy to have two new members

Chisinau, Sep 20 /MOLDPRES/- Sergiu Băieșu and Tatiana Tabuncic were appointed today by Parliament as members of the Superior Council of Magistracy for a six-year term.
The two candidates were proposed in the plenary session of the Parliament following a competition organized by the legal commission on rules and immunities. Eight people took part, but only five passed the integrity evaluation. They were admitted to the file and interview stage, with Sergiu Băieșu and Tatiana Tabuncic scoring the highest marks.
Sergiu Băieșu is a PhD in Law and Professor in the Private Law Department of the Faculty of Law at Moldova State University.
Tatiana Tabuncic is a PhD in Law and a lecturer at Moldova State University. In 2022, Tabuncic was appointed as a member of the Integrity Council of the National Integrity Authority.
According to the Constitution, the Superior Council of Magistracy consists of 12 members. Six of them, who are not judges, are selected on a competitive basis and are appointed by the Parliament with the vote of 3/5 of the number of elected deputies.
