Electoral body registers two candidates for Moldovan president's office, three participants in referendum

Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved the registration of two candidates at the presidential elections due on 20 October 2024. It is about Andrei Nastase, nominated by a group of citizens and Octavian Ticu, nominated by the TOGETHER Electoral Bloc.
In context, CEC registered the electoral symbols of the candidates for being printed on the ballot paper at the presidential elections, the candidates’ representatives in the Central Electoral Commission and confirmed the people in charge of finances (treasurers).
CEC’s data shows that, so far, eight candidates have been registered for the presidential elections and another four files are under consideration.
At the same time, the following political formations were registered as participants in the referendum: WE Political Party, with the option YES, Political Party AT HOME National Reunification Party, with the option YES, European Social Democratic Party Political Party, with the option YES.
According to CEC, the application submitted by the VICTORY Political Party was turned down by the Commission and the application submitted by the PEOPLE’S WILL Political Party did not have the needed number of votes to be approved.
