Chisinau, Sept 26 /MOLDPRES/- Candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) in the presidential elections Maia Sandu announced that in the first week of the electoral campaign, she discussed with citizens one of the objectives included in the Plan for Moldova - care for people. The head of state candidate had meetings with doctors, teachers and students, and at the end of this week she will go to several localities in Italy to talk to citizens of diaspora.
Maia Sandu posted this evening a new episode from her campaign diary. She recounted that in this campaign, many people are struggling with misinformation. "We have no right to tire. The campaign has just started, there are many people fighting misinformation on social networks. I thank them all and urge them to keep it up. It is important not to let lies decide our fate and we must all fight against disinformation," said Maia Sandu.
The PAS candidate announced that she is on vacation this week. "I took vacation so that I can go to electoral meetings. This week, I am discussing the first goal of my Plan for Moldova, namely care for people. I was able to meet with teachers, doctors, students, elderly people and women. We talked about achievements, problems, expectations, but in general I was happy to see hope and optimism," said Maia Sandu.
Maia Sandu noted that in the next few days she will go to Italy to meet with Moldovans. The visits will take place in Milan, Turin, Parma, Bologna, Padua, Verona and Brescia.
"We are going to Italy. We hope to see as many people as possible there. I am going not as a head of state but as a presidential candidate. Respectively, the visits are financed from the electoral fund. One of the accusations I hear is about the cost of my trips as president. I want to tell people very clearly, during my term of office, the presidential administration spent twice as much money as during Igor Dodon's term of office. So, to be clear, I have spent less on foreign visits and I think I have achieved much more than the previous president when it comes to Moldova's foreign policy," Maia Sandu said.
The candidate for head of state said that in the current election campaign several lies are being spread, which are aimed at influencing voters' decisions.
"Unfortunately the lies are flowing. To make it easier, I think we should remember that four years ago there was a wave of lies about Syrians, about churches, about the Transnistrian region. If we stop to analyze, none of these scares happened. Exactly the same objective the liars have now - to scare us and make us decide differently than we want," Maia Sandu said.
Also today, Maia Sandu had a meeting with the students of the Technical University of Moldova. She reiterated the actions to be carried out in support of young people so that they do not go abroad and have a good life in Moldova.
"Today - with future engineers, information technology specialists, and other professions essential for the development of infrastructure and the economy, from the Technical University of Moldova - we talked about how important it is for young people to stay at home. One of the commitments in my Plan for Moldova is to provide an allowance of 3,000 lei per month for 1 year for every young man and woman who starts their first job in certain strategic fields. My objective is to reach an average salary of 25,000 lei by 2030, so that young people do not go abroad and have a good life in Moldova," said Maia Sandu.
In the Republic of Moldova, the electoral campaign for the presidential elections and the republican constitutional referendum on October 20 is underway. A total of 11 candidates will run for the post of head of state. The electoral campaign ends on October 18, 2024, two days before the elections.
