International Monetary Fund's mission comes to Chisinau

Chisinau, 27 September /MOLDPRES/ - A mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Alina Iancu, will pay a visit to Chisinau on 1-11 October 2024.
The IMF mission will hold discussions in the context of the sixth evaluation of the programme backed through the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and the second assessment of the programme supported through Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).
According to a IMF’s press release, the main goal of the Fund’s experts is to analyze ‘’the recent developments in the economy, assess the perspectives and risks at the macroeconomic level and take knowledge about the progress made in the implementation of the actions agreed upon within the programme supported by IMF.’’
The Moldovan authorities’ programme, backed by IMF through the ECF and EFF facilities, has duration of 40 months and was approved on 21 December 2021. In May 2022, the overall volume of crediting was increased up to about 805 million dollars (594.3 million special drawing rights (SDR)), of which about 608 million dollars (449.1 million SDR) has been already disbursed. Besides, in December 2023, a new programme was approved, supported through the RSF funding facility, worth about 175 million dollars (129.4 million SDR), of which about 44 million dollars (32.3 million SDR) has been already disbursed.
The financing based on the FCF sees an annual interest rate of 0 per cent, a grace period of five years and a repayment period of ten years. At the same time, the financing based on EFF provides for an annual interest rate equal to the basic rate of interest for the SDR, a repayment period of ten years and a grace period of four years and a half. The financing based on RSF has a repayment period of 20 years and a grace period of ten years and a half, during which the principal sum is not paid.
