Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/ - The reforms underway in Moldova, the results of the Moldova Partnership Platform and the extreme weather phenomena of the last period have been some of the subjects tackled by Prime Minister Dorin Recean and United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, the government’s communication department reported.

The PM expressed gratitude for the support which the UN is providing to the government both in the process of accession to the European Union and in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

„When we are united – we are strong, and this is reflected in numerous projects which we implement together; either it is about the modernization of the infrastructure and improvement of the living conditions for the people or about the management of the refugees’ crisis, triggered by Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine,’’ the Moldovan PM said.

At the meeting in New York, which took place in the context of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Dorin Recean and Antonio Guterres also discussed the Pact for the Future, recently approved, as well as the consolidation of the cooperation between Moldova and the UN agencies from the country. In the context, Prime Minister Dorin Recean brought for discussion the opportunity of new country programmes and of more assistance for overcoming the crises created by the war in Ukraine and combating the climate changes.

At the same time, Dorin Recean enumerated the progress made by Moldova in such sectors as renewable energy, gender equality, the digitalization of services, infrastructure and other fields.
