Moldovan Labour Ministry nominates winners of national contest National Award for Elderly People, 2024 edition

Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/ - The winners of the contest, National Award for Elderly People, titled, For Active Life at Any Age, the 2024 edition, were awarded the prizes at an official ceremony held at the government’s headquarters today. The contest represents an initiative by the Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MMPS) and is dedicated to the appreciation of the special performances of elderly people who actively contributed to the community’s development.
The event of awarding prizes is held on 1 October, when the International Day for Older Persons is marked. Eight winners were nominated out of the 14 files submitted at this issue of the contest. Thus, the winners were awarded the title of Laureate of the contest of the National Award, For Active Life at Any Age, and a money prize.
At the event, Labour and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu addressed a congratulatory message to all winners. He stressed that the government had the firm commitment to provide the elderly people with a decent living, a sound and active ageing.
The second priority of the government regards the providing of a social assistance which is ‘’qualitative and close to each elderly person in the country.’’
Attending the event was also MP Maria Pancu. She conveyed a congratulatory message to all elderly people ion the occasion of the today’s holiday.
„The parliament fully supports the government’s initiatives. I am happy very much that all achievements from the country occur with your involvement. To integrate into the European Union, we need your support. I urge you to be active, healthy and strong. Preserve your energy many years ahead,’’ Maria Pancu said.
According to data by the National Statistics Bureau, over 421,000 people older than 65 years live in Moldova.
