Chisinau, Oct. 1 /MOLDPRES/- Institute of Mother and Child in the capital will have four new ultrasound scanners. The batch of medical equipment worth 285,000 euros, including ultrasound devices was donated by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Attending the event were Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco and Japanese Ambassador to Moldova Yamada Yoichiro.
Nemerenco noted that Japan is a reliable partner of the health system in our country and in recent years has donated medical equipment to several institutions.
"The batch of equipment worth 285,000 euros includes much-needed equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of children's diseases. It includes four ultrasound scanners. It also includes four gastroscopes which are video-guided and have been eagerly awaited by doctors here. The equipment comes to strengthen the capabilities of the health system and they are part of a project that we developed together at the Ministry of Health in 2022," the minister said.
The Japanese diplomat noted that the new devices will ease the titanic work of doctors, and his country supports the Chisinau authorities who have also helped Ukrainian refugees.
In November 2022, a grant agreement was signed between the Ministry of Health and JICA worth 1 billion Japanese yen (about 6 million euros). The agreement is a significant part of the health system strengthening program, which aims to equip five public medical institutions in the Republic of Moldova with essential medical technology.
