Moldovan PM meets group of elderly people from Glodeni on International Day for Older Persons

Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has met a group of elderly people from the northern Glodeni district, on the International Day for Older Persons. The discussion was focused on the challenges faced by the elderly people, as well as on the actions taken by the cabinet to back these people, the government’s communication department has reported.
According to the PM, the government prioritizes the improvement of the living standards of the elderly people, including by giving access to quality medical and social services. In this respect, in the last years, more measures have been undertaken, among which the increase in the minimum pension by 143 per cent and of the average pension – by 90 per cent. Also, assistance was allocated for the cold period of the year and one-off financial support for the pensioners born before 1945 and the ones with pensions lower than 3,000 lei.
Other actions undertaken regard the extension of the list of compensated medicines, as well as the introduction of the pension for long career, through which the people with full length of service have possibility to retire in advance.
„We are with the elderly people not only today, but every day. We respect them for the generations which they brought up and educated, as well as for the support which they give us on the way of development and modernization. Together, we edify the European Moldova and provide a better living for all people from our villages and cities.’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.
The elderly residents from the Glodeni district referred to the need to diversify the services covered by the health insurance policy, the insufficiency of jobs, as well as the lack of interurban public transport. At the same time, the citizens touched upon the prices for drinking water and gas and PM Recean repeatedly assured them that the tariffs would not grow in the cold season.
