Moldova's Ambassador to Israel says security situation quite volatile, permanently changing in region

Chisinau, 2 October /MOLDPRES/ - The security situation ‘’is quite volatile and permanently changing’’ in Israel. Ambassador of Moldova to Israel Alexandr Roitman has made statements to this effect at a programme at Radio Moldova. The diplomat urged the Moldovan citizens to avoid travels to Israel and those who are already there are warned to strictly follow the security instructions.      

„Yesterday, Iran launched a new attack against Israel. The Number of missiles is not sure, but it is between 180 and 400. It is about ballistic missiles which reach the territory of Israel in about 12 minutes. The attack was unprecedented, but the authorities managed to prevent the residents and we, the Embassy, published a message for our citizens to follow all indications and caution actions. When all instructions are observed, people have possibility to be in safety, staying in shelters,’’ Alexandr Roitman said.      

The ambassador said that authorities permanently inform in a quite short and in due time the measures which should be taken at a certain moment of the day. ‘’Unfortunately, the security situation is quite volatile, permanently changing. There are public shelters, there are shelters in people’s homes; this is the only possibility for people to shelter themselves and wait for the attacks to end,’’ Alexandr Roitman said.    

The diplomat noted that, ‘’regretfully, this state will continue’’. ‘’The Middle East is specific in this respect; the periodical instability is, in a way, something usual, unfortunately. We have witnessed many time syncopes in the security situation, escalations and then periods of peace. Unfortunately, this state will continue and, regretfully, we do not see elements which say us that the things will soon calm down. In this respect, I reiterate the call of the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Embassy to our citizens: in case they have no vital needs to visit Israel, then they should abstain from visits and those who are in the State of Israel must strictly follow all security instructions, as only this protects and saves the citizen’s life,’’ the ambassador said.       

He noted that Israel had three levels of security, which allows intercepting missiles of different radiuses and this security system is functional.
