Chisinau, 2 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean today discussed with representative of the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO) and a delegation of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). The observers will monitor the presidential elections and the republican constitutional referendum due on 20 October and will assess the implementation of the earlier recommendations as regards the elections, the presidential press service has reported.
The PM referred to the authorities’ efforts to ensure a transparent, free and fair electoral exercise. At the same time, the prime minister touched upon the risks of the foreign interferences, hybrid attacks on behalf of the Kremlin and the actions meant to disturb the democratic processes in Moldova. According to the PM, the propaganda and the misinformation are boosting on the electoral period and the false stories about the European Union are widely disseminated, in order to compromise the ballot.
„An educated and well-informed society is a resilient society, which makes difference between reality and falsehood. Therefore, it is crucial for us to communicate with the people, explain the benefits the EU integration brings to the people and the effort which we make to edify a European country. We will continue implementing the reforms needed for Moldova’s modernization and to create new opportunities of development for the future of our children,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.
ENEMO will have 12 mobile teams, which will monitor the holding of the elections at 150 polling stations from Moldova.
The ODIHR mission is made up of 11 experts with headquarters in Chisinau.
