Moldovan electoral body says 2,729, 996 ballot papers to be printed for elections due on 20 October

Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today established the total number of ballot papers for the presidential elections and the referendum due on 20 October 2024. Thus, the overall number of ballot papers will be of 2,729,996.   

According to Potrivit CEC, 2, 092, 641 out of those 2,729,996 ballot papers will be in the Romanian language and 631,979 – in Russian, 115 – in the Ukrainian language, 3,400 – in the Gagauz language, 870 – in the Romany language and 991 ballot papers – in the Bulgarian language.  

The CEC members noted that the ballot papers would be printed in the languages of the ethnic minorities for the first time ever.

As many as 90,000 ballot papers will be printed for the voters from the settlements on the left bank of Dniester, of which 45,000 ballot papers in Romanian and the same number in Russian. The ballot papers printed will be distributed to the electoral bureaus of the polling stations through the constituency electoral councils.  

CEC also said that it had printed by 1,809 ballot papers for the people who asked for exercising their right to vote by correspondence and by 852,200 ballot papers for each ballot, meant for the polling stations from abroad.
