Chisinau, Oct. 4 /MOLDPRES/- Partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Romania represents a guarantee for the European integration of our country. Prime Minister Dorin Recean made the statement at today's joint press conference held with Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu.
Recean spoke about the projects carried out jointly with Romania aimed at connecting the Republic of Moldova to the European infrastructure and accelerating the European integration process of our country. "Almost two years ago, during our joint press conference in Bucharest, the plan to build roads that would connect both banks of the Prut and connect our road network to Romania's highway networks was announced for the first time. Last week, in Ungheni, the contract for the construction of the bridge over the Prut was signed, which will connect Ungheni in Romania and Ungheni in the Republic of Moldova - a symbol of the ever stronger ties between us", said Recean.
Dorin Recean said that in 2026, the bridge must be ready. "A new bridge with four traffic lanes that will bring us faster to Romania and the European Union. This project will not only stabilize transport and trade between our countries, but, as you also pointed out earlier today, Mr. Prime Minister, it will pave the way for more investment directions in the Republic of Moldova. The connection will connect us directly to the highways through Bucharest to Thessaloniki, to Budapest, Vienna and Paris. This is how we will get there faster, not only through the integration of country policies, but also with the help of new roads", he said.
According to the official, the deepening of the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Romania in economic, commercial and infrastructure terms is a guarantee for the acceleration of our accession process to the European Union.
"Economic and commercial exchanges between our countries have grown constantly and Romania represents the largest and most stable market for Moldovan exports. Attracting foreign investment from various sectors, from energy to agriculture and technology, contributes to the modernization of the Moldovan economy and to the acceleration of our integration into the European common market. Romania remains one of our most important allies on this road, and we are happy to see how our economic and commercial ties continue to strengthen, bringing real benefits to the citizens of both countries", said Recean.
Recean and his Romanian counterpart Marcel Ciolacu participated in the handover ceremony of school minibuses donated to the Republic of Moldova by the Romanian state.
Marcel Ciolacu is on an official visit to the Republic of Moldova today. He will have meetings with President Maia Sandu and Speaker Igor Grosu.
