Chisinau, 4 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Grigore Tamblac State University from Taraclia marks its 20th anniversary of foundation! Attending the festive event, organized by the leadership of the higher education institution, were academicians and teachers of Moldova and from abroad, the Moldovan top leadership, as well as outstanding personalities. The members of the Association for the Development of the Bulgarian Community from Moldova (ARBOM) were among the special guests.

„Our education institution differs from the others through its uniqueness and identity. This is the only university which works in a region with a preponderantly Bulgarian population from Moldova,’’ the rector of the institution, Maria Paslar, said in a speech given to the participants in the event.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, who was the honorary guest of the event at the university, gave a speech to those present and even greeted them in the Bulgarian language. The speaker thanked those who, during 20 years, had managed to educate generations of specialists.

„The most important thing is that, on this period, the generations of specialists launched by this university, have managed to convey, for their part, the Bulgarian language and culture assimilated at this institution,’’ Grosu said.

The Grigore Tamblac State University from Taraclia was opened on 1 October 2004 by President of Bulgaria Georgi Prvanov and the former president of Moldova from that period, Vladimir Voronin.

„In a young state, where more ethnic minorities live,  the state is obliged to pay special attention to the history and culture of the peoples who live on the territory of this country and this university is the place where these things can happen,’’ Voronin said.

Since the 2017 year, the Taraclia University has been member of an international consortium in the field of science and education, along with the Angel Kanchev University from Ruse, Bulgaria, which will soon open a branch in Moldova.

„We are set to provide specializations fit for this region, for Taraclia, such as in the ones in agricultural technologies and transport, management of business - a quite attractive specialty for young people and not in the least, the one from the IT sector. The graduates of this institution will be able to work anywhere in the world,’’ said the pro-rector of the Ruse-based University, Teodor Iliev, who was among the special guests of the ceremony. The ARBOM members also welcomed the intention to open a branch in Taraclia.

„The Association for the Development of the Bulgarian Community from Moldova is a reliable partner of the Taraclia University and which, through other partners with which it cooperates, it provided scholarships to students. Now, the next step for which it is set to provide support is to contribute to the ensuring of a European system of education and we are open to do this. For this, we congratulate, support and appreciate the effort made also by the leadership of the institution,’’ the ARBOM director, Alexandr Borimecicov, said.

The Taraclia University is a cultural and spiritual centre which ensures the studying and the preservation of the Bulgarian cultural heritage in Moldova. It cooperates with the Bulgarian universities from Veliko Tărnovo, Ruse and Silistra.
