Chisinau, 4 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu, on an official visit to Chisinau, has had a meeting with President Maia Sandu. ‘’I conveyed today to Mrs. Maia Sandu my every support for the development of Moldova. We are with Moldova for the coming true of the European dream,’’ said the prime minister of Romania.
Given that the visit takes place shortly before the referendum on the accession to the European Union, which will be held in Moldova, on the same day with the presidential elections, an important subject approached at the meeting was the European integration way of Moldova.
PM Marcel Ciolacu stressed that Romania believed in Moldova’s European vocation and would continue to unequivocally support the continuation of this way, on which the Moldovan authorities committed to move with confidence and responsibility, managing to cope with the unprecedented crises and hybrid challenges which appeared, against the background of the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine.
„Today we had occasion to sum up the solid support which Romania has provided to Moldova so far and we analyzed the way we can better channel this support. We will do, in continuation, everything which is up to us, through concrete projects, and by sharing our experience in the European integration, in order to back this way for Moldova. The stake of the joint projects of support is to provide the citizens and communities with confidence in the perspective of a better future, of democracy, development and stability,’’ Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said.
The two officials discussed the joint projects of Moldova and Romania. One of them is the construction of the first bridge after more decades, which will connect the Iasi county and the Ungheni district. Besides, other bridges across the Prut river are in process of modernization and in the long run, the building of another four new bridges is scheduled.
„The education is a field of continuous cooperation and today another 20 school mini-buses were distributed in country’s districts, out of all 69 buses bought this year alone, with Romania’s support,’’ the head of state stressed, quoted in a press release by the Presidency.
President Maia Sandu welcomed the financing, recently announced by Romania, for the restoration of the urban Mansion of the Donici Family, placed at the corner of the Metropolitan Banulescu-Bodoni and 31 August 1989 Streets.
„Romania stays a reliable partner for Moldova and for our European integration way,’’ the head of state said.
At the same time, the Romanian PM highlighted the appreciation and respect enjoyed by Moldova on behalf of the partners from the European Union. He congratulated the firm commitment of President Maia Sandu, for the exemplary and convincing way for the entire Europe, in which she gets involved in the implementation of the reforms needed for the accession to the European Union.
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, on an official visit to Chisinau today, participated in a ceremony on the delivery of a consignment of 20 school min-buses, which will reach Moldova’s villages and towns. Starting from July 2023 so far, the government of Romania has provided financing to a number of 69 such school buses, within the Agreement on non-refundable financial assistance worth 100 million euros. A new batch of nine mini-buses, due to be delivered, will come soon.
