Over a hundred thousand visitors expected at National Wine Day

Chisinau, Oct. 5 /MOLDPRES/- More than a hundred thousand visitors are expected on 5 October and 6 October at the National Wine Day. The 23rd edition of the celebration will be held under the slogan "Our amazingly good wine". The authorities say that National Wine Day is an emblematic event which strengthens Moldova's position among countries producing high-quality wines.
The event is traditionally held on the Great National Assembly Square. The 23rd edition of the National Wine Day will bring together about a hundred winemakers under the umbrella of the country's wine brand Moldovan Wine, who will present their creations. Wine Day is also celebrated at many wineries and wine cellars across the country.
This year's National Wine Day brings an important change in the format of the event, designed to enhance the experience of the participants and allow a proper tasting of the wines' flavors.
The event is organized by the National Vine and Wine Office, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, with USAID Moldova support through the Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Project.
The festival celebrates Moldova's rich winemaking traditions dating back to the 15th century. The purpose of the event is to promote and strengthen the image of our country as an important wine-producing state, provide support for the development of the sector, raise awareness of wine products, facilitate the process of Moldova's inclusion on international wine tourism routes, attract investors and tourists, increase domestic consumption of high-quality beverages, familiarize with folk customs, culture and traditions.
Over 2% of the world's vineyards are located in Moldova. The Republic of Moldova is among the top 20 wine-producing countries and a major exporter worldwide. The wine industry is one of the key branches of our country's economy. Moldovan wines are imported by over 70 countries from different corners of the world.
