Chisinau, Oct. 6 /MOLDPRES/- On 5-6 October, wine lovers are invited to participate in the National Wine Day, a large-scale national event with cultural-historical connotations, to interact with the producers and discover the success stories. The winegrowers and winemakers are the ones who work and make our wine truly amazing. Today, we are talking about the winemaking tradition of the Republic of Moldova, about our culture and history, about how wine and vines are an integral part of our identity.
Wine - historical drink
If we are to review the history of wine consumption on the territory of our country, we must say that the cultivation of the vine and its manufacture precedes, according to the evidence of time, even the cultivation of wheat. The Geto-Dacians, the ancient inhabitants, valued wine in a special way, and the vine was one of the most important of their wealth. They used to drink the wine poured into ox horns, jugs or even gourds.
Wine - national drink of Moldovans
With the formation of the Moldavian state, the importance of wine and viticulture continues to remain a priority as in pre-Christian times. The art of making wine in those times came mainly from the monasteries, from the noble households.
In a social context, wine is a drink that unites people.
Each of the customs, rituals have a certain measure regarding the consumption of the drink, being very important.
There were many rules governing the honoring of wine, differing more or less from locality to locality. Even more so, the drinking behavior of the main actors of these rites was regulated. As a step-over from the old custom of glasses, even if there were vessels of drink on the table, it was considered shameful to pour one's own glass.
The consumption of wine represents a cultural complex of great representation, manifesting itself in rites, customs and ceremonies - deep contents of a popular philosophy and ethics, marked by mythical thinking, beliefs and traditions.
